4 Months Old (Actually 4.5 Months)

Time keeps on going and going and going and I have meant to post on Oakley's 4 month happenings but time has gotten away from me! At least I am getting this up before she turns 5 months old :)
She is growing, changing, interacting and is such a precious sweet little love bug!
Here is what you are up to these days!

* You are an amazingly, awesome sleeper! The dream baby in this department :) You sleep anywhere from 12-13 hours a night.  You have been going to bed a bit earlier about 8:30-9:30 and I don't go in and get you in the morning until 9-10:00. Although you don't make any sounds when you wake up because you just start sucking your fingers...so I don't fully know when you really wake up!
* So I credit the amazing sleeping to the fact that you have found your pointer and middle fingers and LOVE to suck on them! As in, you are addicted to these fingers. When awake you are always putting them in your mouth. You put yourself to sleep with these fingers and you soothe yourself with these fingers (but you will always take mommy's soothing over sucking on your fingers any day)!
* You are no longer swaddled at night since you need to get to your fingers, so both arms are free.  You also like to sleep on your back for naps and bedtime
* You take a catnap in the morning about 1-1 1/2 hours after you wake up. Then you take a big snooze in the afternoon for about 3-4 hours. And you take another catnap in the evening before bed.
* You nurse about every 2-3 hours, and like to nurse after you wake up and before you go to sleep.
* We haven't started solid food with you yet but the pediatrician said we could anytime we wanted (it just seems crazy to me that you are old enough to have solids)

* You are smiling a lot and love to interact with us
* You are still trying to figure your laugh out and suck in air or smile really big...you aren't sure what to do when we tickle you!
* You are fairly quiet with babbling, but when you get going you really get talking (I usually have to hold your fingers out of your mouth to get you to talk though :)

*You are blowing bubbles all the time and make quite a mess with spit up and spit bubbles
* You think wheels on the bus and patty-cake are really funny, especially when we pull your arms up over your head
* You love your bath and will kick, kick, kick like crazy, smiling the whole time!
* You have started to really be able to grab toys and try to put them in your mouth

* You took your first road trip of 8 hours to visit Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Lamson...you were AMAZING, sleeping a lot of it and fairly happy when you were awake
* You are fabulous when letting other people hold you.  So far you are content to be passed around and strangers don't scare you or upset you

* You continue to hate your carseat when you are tired and hungry or awake.  You will cry and cry and cry and can't be consoled until we take you out (but crazy you did so well on the road trip)
* When we were in Oregon, you rolled once from front to back and have rolled multiple times from belly to back, you like to roll from your back to your side

* You are really strong when you are on your tummy and will balance on your elbows, hold your head up and look around
* You are strong when being held as you can sit up and stand up now with help, without flopping over

* You can hold yourself straight when we lift you up high over our heads like an airplane...which is a game you love!
* You love your brothers and they continue to love you.  They still ask to hold you all the time and they are getting more gentle for the most part

* You have found your feet within the last week or so and will constantly grab them
* You do no like to be left alone in a room and seem to know the minute we leave as you watch us a lot when we set you down

* You are in size 3 month clothes, transitioning some to 3-6 months and size 1-2 diapers
* At your 4 month check up you were: 11 lb. 10 oz (50th percentile), 23 3/4 inches tall (25th percentile), and 39 1/2 cm head circumference (25th percentile)
* Your eyes are still blue and your hair is still brown
You are such a great addition and I love having a girl! I have the CUTEST outfits for you and always get excited to pull out the next size, since we have so much for you :)

Oakley Rose, our only granddaughter (so far), how blessed we are with another grandchild. You are so different from the boys, just taking in life, watching, and for the most part laid back just soaking things in. What a joy you are!
